Samares Showcase

This year, we are introducing our first termly Independent Learning Showcase – an optional project that children and families can complete at home and share with our school community. The aim of these showcases is to encourage independent research, creativity, curiosity and pride in learning. Children can work independently, together in groups or you can complete something as a whole family.

This Term’s Theme: Celebrating Liberation

Our Summer showcase is linked to Liberation Day, a significant event in Jersey’s history which celebrates freedom, resilience, and community.

Projects should explore ideas connected to freedom, Liberation Day, Jersey’s heritage, or what living in a free and safe community means to your child.

Children can interpret the theme in any way they choose - big or small, simple or detailed. We also welcome joint entries from siblings, families or friends.

What could children create?

They might choose to make:

  • A model of an important landmark from Jersey’s Liberation
  • A poster about what freedom means
  • A poem or piece of writing
  • Artwork inspired by Liberation Day colours or symbols
  • Artwork of photos, pictures or drawings of Jersey
  • A fact file, timeline or mini-museum display
  • A collage of photos or drawings
  • A model of anything linked to the Liberation or freedom
  • A song, storyboard, or short video
  • A sculpture or creative design inspired by resilience or hope

There is no set format. The emphasis is on independence and creativity.

We ask that all children hand in their projects on or before 14th May.

The Summer Samares Showcase will be held in the school hall on 15th May at 3pm.

Certificates will be given for best entries, best effort or showing our school values.

We look forward to celebrating the children’s creativity, independent learning and deepening their understanding of this important part of Jersey’s heritage.
