Samares Showcase
At Samares School, we are committed to providing enriching and exciting learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. Our Samares Showcase is a key part of this, giving children the opportunity to explore their own ideas and interests beyond the classroom.
The Samares Showcase is a termly independent learning project, completed at home over several weeks. It is entirely optional, but all children are warmly encouraged to take part.

What is the Showcase?
The Showcase is an opportunity for pupils to take ownership of their learning by creating a project linked to a termly theme. Children decide what they would like to explore and how they present it, choosing from a wide range of creative formats such as artwork, models, writing, videos or presentations.
Projects are then shared as part of a celebratory event in the school hall, where classes and families can come together to view and enjoy the children’s work.
Why do we have a Showcase?
The Samares Showcase supports our commitment to developing confident, independent learners by:
- Encouraging curiosity and self-directed learning
- Building confidence in sharing and presenting ideas
- Strengthening links between home and school
- Embedding our core values of determination, collaboration, engagement and respect in meaningful, real-life contexts
- Celebrating each child’s unique strengths and creativity
A Creative and Inclusive Approach
There is no set format for projects. Children are free to express their ideas in a way that suits them best. This could include:
- Artwork, posters or models
- Stories, poems or comics
- Videos, photographs or presentations
- Maps, timelines or information displays
- Music, games or creative designs

Projects can be simple or more detailed—what matters most is the child’s independence, effort and pride in their learning.
Termly Themes
Each term, a new theme is introduced to inspire learning:
- Autumn – What makes us Samares?
Exploring our school values and identity, including creative interpretations of our logo and what it represents. - Spring – Many cultures, one community
Celebrating our diverse school community, languages and global heritage. - Summer – Celebrating Liberation
Learning about Jersey’s history and the importance of Liberation Day, with a focus on freedom, resilience and community.
Celebrating Success
The Showcase event is a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the efforts of all participants. Every contribution is valued, displayed and we are always incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and pride our children demonstrate.
