PSHE

Our vision for PSHE at Samares School:

PSHE aims to equip children to live happy and healthier lives. We aim for our PSHE curriculum to enable pupils to learn more about themselves and others. We aim for pupils to acquire the skills, language and strategies they need in order to live healthy, safe, fulfilling, responsible and balanced lives within the community of Jersey.

At Samares School we use the scheme JIGSAW to deliver the PSHE curriculum. This whole school approach provides consistency and progression to ensure that children have a high quality PSHE curriculum, supporting our wider curriculum vision around personal development, welfare, mental health and developing our children to become responsible citizens.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education:

The JIGSAW programme teaches children emotional literacy, social and lifelong skills, RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) and resilience in an age-appropriate manner. The unit of work Changing Me is where the RSHE curriculum is taught to pupils. A letter to parents explaining the content of the unit is sent out in the half term in which it is taught (Summer 2).

A useful leaflet for parents explaining the RSHE curriculum is also attached below.

Please get in touch with your child's class teacher or Mr Lumley if you wish to discuss any elements of our PSHE curriculum further.
